When will the new 2018 Audi A1 arrive in the UK? It’s been announced by Audi, November is the deadline and is ready to draw in new and young customers to the brand. As even though, the previous generation of the A1 was their third-best-selling model in the UK, competitors like MINI have doubled their sales over Audi. Therefore, this prompted the German manufacturer to act immediately.
What is the new 2018 A1 known for? The A1 is the smallest model in the Audi range, although it’s tiny, it’s mighty! Oozing with a sporty design, with inspiration taken from the brand’s Quattro rallying heritage, it includes a single-frame front grille and three flat bonnet slits that take hints from the original 1984 Sport Quattro.

Is it similar to its current competitors? We’d say so. With the likes of the Volkswagen Group who take ownership over the popular Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza, the Audi A1 comes exclusively in five-door form and has grown (it’s now four metres long). For the reason behind it being to increase cabin space and add 65-litres of luggage capacity too.
How is the new supermini powered? The power is down to your choice of three petrol engines: 94bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre four-cylinder units offering up to 197bhp.
As standard, you’ll receive a six-speed manual gearbox, but as an additional option, you can choose to go for the seven-speed S Tronic automatic box.
Although, if it was up to us, we'd go for the most potent 197bhp model, as the 40 TFSI gets the seven-speed S Tronic transmission as standard.

If that’s not enough, along with the DAB radio, you have online smartphone functionality, with the likes of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with LTE tech to boost a phone’s signal via the car’s antenna. The entertainment factor doesn’t just stop there, whilst this A1 offers you two high-quality audio systems – a 560W Bang & Olufsen 11-speaker set-up.
Is safety considered a high priority in the new Audi A1? We say this with a very firm yes, as there is numerous driver assist features:
- Pre-sense radar-based technology, this recognises cars, cyclists and pedestrians, even in fog!
- This same radar technology enables adaptive speed cruise control that works at up to 124mph and can bring the car to a stop.
- Reversing camera.
- Parking sensors.
- Automatic parking system.
So, have we stopped you from salivating yet? This new 2018 Audi A1 is an incredible feature added onto Audi’s line-up and with its price jumping to around £16,500. We believe this is a great competitive price, as keeping in mind what the car offers, the MINI also starts a little higher from £16,605 in five-door form so you’re getting more car for your money.
