Hello and welcome to the sale of this beautiful Range Rover Classic. , Being an avid Land / Range rover enthusiast myself, and owning a 1990 RR longterm of my own, I actually seldom have them in stock as they generally simply arent good enough! This example however breaks that trend, it is certainly good enough and I am very pleased to offer it for sale. , This is a 1990 3.9 V8 Vogue SE model, identifiable by the concealed door hinges, the horizontal leather seat trim pattern and the lower fuel filler. This is my favourite vintage of Range Rover. It was a distinct period of change and refinement for them as they cemented themselves as the pinnacle of luxury SUVs and paved the path for how we know them today. , This particular example impresses because it has not undergone a full restoration, and has clearly never slipped into a state of dilapidation as most do. It has instead just been carefully maintained and improved over the years, with anything it has needed being promptly attended to. It has a large history file which verifies the milage of just 86,000, and documents much recent expenditure predominantly from the last owner. Sadly now available only due to bereavement, there is documentation and a statement from the last keepers widow explaining that her husband was sadly too ill to drive the Range Rover much, instead his enjoyment from the car being to employ various Land Rover specialists to work on and improve the Range Rover for him to the best of their abilities. This included a full, extremely high quality re-spray in the original, rare and very tasteful Cairngorm Brown Metallic, and various mechanical maintenance and improvements. In the late owners own words on a copy of an email included in the history, he was Fanatical about getting this car to drive absolutely as tight and positive as a Range Rover Classic can possibly be, and to avoid the trademark roll and wander of the steering and suspension. To combat this he sent the car to Kingsley Re-Engineered, a renowned specialist and restorer based in Oxford, had spent £5,000 on their Fast Road suspension system. This includes fully uprated high-performance custom dampers, upgraded anti-roll bars front and rear, full polybush kit, upgraded steering damper and much more. The result of this is quite remarkable. The ride is marginally firmer than standard, although barely noticeable until you get to the corners, when body roll is virtually extinguished. The steering also feels incredibly direct and precise, with a really beefy feel that I have not experienced on a Range Rover Classic before. The owner certainly met his own brief when it comes to the ride and handling of this car. , The exterior is in superb condition all round, the paintwork is of very high quality, it has an excellent shine and very few imperfections at all. All badges and coachlines have been correctly replaced following the respray, and all the trims and bumpers are also in great order The iconic 3 spoke alloy wheels are in good condition, and shod with excellent Michelin Latitude 235/70/16 tyres. Front and rear mudflaps and an adjustable tow bar complete the exterior accessories. , The stunning tan leather interior is just as impressive. Clean and dry, virtually all original and in excellent condition throughout with no bad odours or damage. The usual weak spot of the headlining has been replaced and looks great. Everything appears to work well, including the electric seats, sunroof, windows and mirrors. It is currently fitted with a more modern upgraded Kenwood radio. It is a very comfortable and classy place to be!, , The shell and chassis are in excellent condition, with no signs of the usual serious rot and rust that these suffer so badly from. As mentioned, this is not a restored car, and has not been pulled apart and extensively welded. You may find the odd bit of surface rust or blister but nothing that needs any kind of attention. I am acutely aware of potential corrosion issues of these vehicles and rest assured this car is as sound as an unrestored car can possibly be! , , The 3.9 V8 petrol engine sounds in rude health, starts and ticks over nicely and produces great power delivery on the road. The auto gearbox is smooth and changes as it should, and the transmission is quiet with no whining or knocking. The rear exhaust silencer has been deleted and replaced with a custom tail pipe, giving the car a lovely burble without being too loud or intrusive. The car was also fitted some years ago with a high quality LPG dual fuel system. This is still in good working order, and I have had it running well on both petrol and gas. It is fitted with twin underslung torpedo tanks, so does not effect the load area with a gas tank as many conversions did. I can get the LPG removed should you wish, or you can leave as is and use or ignore, your choice. The car can be used perfectly normally on petrol alone. If you can buy LPG locally it is cost effective, or ideal for long range touring. , To sum up this is a superb survivor example of a beautiful car, in a stunning colour combination and in great working order with some expensive quality upgrades. It will surely be a joy to own and drive and a very practical classic to use and enjoy in town or country. , Part exchange considered and nationwide delivery available. , ,
