The car was Porsches first V8 production model and in keeping with the brands 924 and 944 models, was a front engine 2+2 coupe. The new 928 even won the ‘European Car of the Year award’ on its release. , The cars featured groundbreaking technology and the latest construction techniques and materials with Aluminium being used for most of the bodywork to keep weight down to a minimum. , The first generation 928 model was in production until 1986 and was followed by the facelifted and revised 2nd generation car in 1987 which would see the model through to its final year in 1995. , These second generation cars featured a more smoothed out nose, a large rear spoiler and restyled rear light clusters.
