Hello and welcome to the sale of this super cool Saab 900 Turbo. , I have been using this car a little and trust me when I say it turns heads and gains much appreciation and admiration from all ages and walks of life! These old flat fronted Saabs are seriously respected as a great car built to very high standards of the time, and very stylish and classy, and it shows in this car today. , Delving into the large history file, we learn that this is not a restored car, instead it is an incredibly genuine and endearing surviving example which has just been carefully used, enjoyed, maintained and repaired as required over its 42 year life span. With just 3 previous registered keepers, up until about 5 years it spent over 30 years of its life with one owner, who used the car sparingly and kept it garaged, with approx 50k miles on the clock. The last owner has then used the car as a practical classic daily driver, and covered approx 35k enjoyable miles! All the receipts for expenditure have been retained for the history file, along with historic MOT certificates and tax discs. I have now taken the car on and carefully prepared the car for its next owner, and put it through the workshop for a full check over and maintenance as required, including fitting a new clutch with associated oil seals, and underside steam clean with minor repairs and protection as required. , The exterior is in overall excellent condition for the age, with straight panels and no heavy damage. There some stone chips, a few very small blisters here and there, and signs of minor paint repairs over the years but all to a good standard and overall the attractive Cherry Red paint presents well with a deep shine. All the bumpers and trims again appear to be original and in great order. The original Saab minilight style alloy wheels are tidy and shod with nearly new Goodyear all weather tyres. There is a tow bar which would suit a small trailer or bike rack , or I can have this removed if you prefer. I quite like it to be honest and I think it look appropriate! The car was still sporting its original dealer tax disc holder, window sticker and number plates. The number plates were getting to be in poor condition, so I have commissioned and fitted a beautiful pair of exact replica dealer plates from Retro Plates, they look fabulous and I have retained the old ones for provenance. , , The interior is an absolute joy. The dash is in great condition and still sports an appropriate age related radio, and a cool graphic equaliser in working order! The velour seats are in excellent condition with no rips or tears. They even still have a stunning set of dealer fitted embroidered and padded seat cover which would be very hard to find today. The interior protection is also complimented by the original Saab rubber mats, and hard armadillo type load liner in the boot. The tool kit is still present under the boot floor, as is the parcel shelf, fire extinguisher and warning triangle. The sunroof slides open as it should. The electric windows and mirrors all work nicely. The headlining has dropped slightly at the rear as they often do. It has been pinned up ok and doesnt intrude but could be an area for the next owner to improve should they wish. , On the road, the 2.0 8 valve engine starts and runs very well, and the light pressure turbo provides a slab of boost thrust making progress pleasingly swift! It is fun to watch the boost gauge on the dash as you blast along, and it makes all the right whooshing and blowing noises that makes these early 80s turbo era cars so appealing! The car also features a cool stainless steel exhaust system, since originals are no longer available. It is a quality Jetex system that was sourced by the last owner at a cost of around £1000. It looks just right and provides a lovely burble without being too loud or intrusive. The car handles and tracks very well with a comfortable yet positive ride and it pulls up nice and square under braking. The gear change on these could never be hurried, but it feels as slick as it should with no crunching from the box and the new clutch is working well with no slip and a good biting point. , A very attractive point of this car now it is 42 years old is that it is now of course exempt from tax, MOT and ULEZ restrictions! Literally insure it on a classic policy and off you go! I cannot think of a better practical classic.... , To sum up this is a fabulous surviving example of an extremely cool and iconic 80s turbo car, with a prestige badge and build quality to match. You could tuck it away and use sparingly, or viably use it every day, and the low ownership costs only add to the attraction. We are sure the next owner will be as pleased as we are with it. , Part exchange considered and nationwide delivery available.
