Being a Pure model, this vehicle is semi-automatic, meaning that there is no clutch pedal and the driver uses the gearstick to shift up the gearbox, whilst the downshifts are made automatically. In our opinion, this makes for a smoother drive than Smart cars with a fully automatic mode, as the driver is in control of when to change gear, avoiding the need to repeatedly come on and off the throttle to smooth out the gearchanges.
