Ref: DM6SMC Heritage are proud to present this incredible 1978 Porsche 911 Restomod. The SMC Heritage collection is a celebration of the best of the best of modern classics whereas SMC Automotive’s forte is very much modification. Sometimes the best of both of these worlds meet, and that is SMC Atelier. As long established “Porsche guys” we are proud to put the SMC Atelier label on this incredible 911. The terms Restomod and OEM Plus are often used to describe vehicles but seldom are they more appropriate. Built at no expense spared by World renowned specialists with only the very best and rarest parts with incredible show stopping attention to detail. Provenance (the base car):When putting your heart and soul and significant investment into a project it makes absolute sense to start with the very best base you can find Consequently a clean, low mileage, solid example with tons of history and previous maintenance was found for the project, crucially this car was also fully hpi clear with no stories. Supplied new on the 1st August 1978 on the then brand-new X Suffix to Mr P Dawson by Official Porsche Centre Continental Ltd of Stourbridge. The original stamped service book and driver’s manual is still present alongside a folder full of old MOTs and invoices for maintenance and repair. With well documented ownership and servicing plus a huge array of invoices for maintenance it really was a lovely useable example and therefore the perfect base for the next stage of its life. Exterior:The conversion was entrusted to 911 Retro works who under took a complete strip down, followed by a bare metal respray in Porsche Geyser Grey pearl paint. This is no budget quick backdate job, the body panels are all steel. Upgrades include: Singer style centre bonnet fill, Alloy sill protection, alloy engine grill, Polished alloy door and window frames, New screen rubbers with silver inserts, Durante mirrors, chrome horn grills with spot lights, New front and rear lights indicators and badges, Period style Porsche branding pack, Singer style extra wide custom painted Fuch alloy shod with Michelin Pilot Sports all round and a retrimmed Targa Roof. Needless to say, the results are stunning, Geyser Grey was a 50th anniversary special edition option but looks incredible in this context against the orange accents Interior:The interior is total retro perfection. 911 Retroworks once again pulling out all the stops. The whole interior is as new and finished in the finest materials. The dash is trimmed in nappa leather with a contrast stitch and basketweave and houses custom orange VDO dials, bespoke switchgear and pleasingly a superb retro looking with modern functionality audio system. The Rennsport sourced period seats are trimmed in stunning nappa and basket weave leather. The door targa panels, rear seat backs and parcel shelf are again all custom trimmed to match the rest of the interior. The new carpets are all trimmed in matching leather too and the boot area is equally sumptuous with a combination of quilted leather and matching high grade carpets. The final finishing touches include a nappa leather trimmed Prototipo wheel, Rennline alloy pedals, handmade leather door pulls and an anodised black gear selector . Technical and mechanical upgrades:Unlike may backdates significant investment has also gone into the mechanicals as well the pretty bits. Well know specialist Strasse in Leeds were chosen to under take a full engine rebuild. The clutch, suspension, exhaust and braking systems are all also brand new. The engine bay is adorned by both 911 Retro works and Strasse build plaques and is detailed beautifully and colour co-ordinated to the exterior. Overview:With less than 1000 miles covered since completion this really is just “run in” and offers a fantastic route in to restomod modern classic ownership as either a low mileage depreciation proof daily driver, a weekend toy to polish, show and enjoy or perhaps most likely a stunning addition to a collection. This incredible vehicle offers a best of both worlds solution to running a classic Porsche, adding a modern twist to classic looks without the Singer price tag. To replicate this vehicle today would see a bill for in excess of six figures excluding the donor car and at least a 2year waiting list. . The vehicle will be MOT’d and fully service by SMC Heritage prior to collection for complete peace if mind£109,994 Open by appointment only please call us on 01244 539760 or 07890 000145 or 07710 096345 We are always looking for high quality, low mileage classic and modern classic cars and bikes with good service history from the early 60s to the mid 00’s.
